“All feelings are valid but we can choose our feelings based on our thoughts. Change your thoughts and you can change your feelings. Like with all things, it will take practice but start them young and they will be Jedi masters in no time”. Talar Herculian Coursey

REVIEW:

Ralphy’s Rules for Feelings is a great book to help children learn about the various types of feelings they may feel in their life along with a clear skill on how to help stop the feelings affecting them in their daily lives.

The story has children on a bus journey to school with each child experience a different feeling but with the key message of you can set those feelings down and not let them control you.

Definitely recommend as a fun educational tool for younger kids.

When an attempt is made on the life of Ashara, Keeper of Yurr, his young, hapless advisor Edvar must uncover and stop those behind it.

With enemies in the capital city and the belligerent Tesh, Keeper of neighbouring nation Karrabar stirring trouble in the Borderlands, can Edvar hold together Ashara’s brittle reign?

The troubles ripple throughout Yurr, affecting an ancient race of people known as the Amast, who in their time of utmost need, turn to pariah Isy for salvation. Rejected by society, kith and kin, can Isy guide the Amast to safety during the greatest turmoil Yurr has known since the War of the Damned?

Pariah’s Lament will take you on a rollercoaster of an adventure ‘that will keep you spellbound as you traverse the world alongside Isy and Edvar’ (Books Behind The Title). And along the way you’ll experience ‘intense fighting scenes, a little romance and flawed characters’ (Sarah Lillian Books).

If you love to explore fantasy worlds, this book won’t disappoint. Part of a shared universe populated by other authors, the setting in Pariah’s Lament has proven a huge hit with readers, with some praising the ‘insane level of detail’ (The Book Suite) and vividness of its descriptions.

Where Two Worlds Touch by River Faire

Genre: Memoir | Travel | Romance | Non-Fiction | LGBTQIA+

Publisher: Evolutionary Press

BACK OF THE BOOK

A journey that will nourish the soul, touch the heart, uplift the spirit, and inspire the mind.

After the fairy tale of Happily Ever After ends in heartbreak, what then? From award-winning author River Faire comes an inspiring account of second chances, healing, inexplicable magic, and following the soul’s compass.

River, an alternative healer and Paris-trained chef – a decidedly reluctant mystic – returns to England from America to help his ex-partner, back from the brink of death. Stepping into a London life he left behind, haunted by ghosts, he finds himself on an unanticipated journey of the heart. When the two men relocate to the English countryside, he discovers more than a charming pastoral landscape, he unexpectedly glimpses the fabric of life itself.

With disarming honesty and a searching, lyrical voice, Where Two Worlds Touch is a soul-stirring narrative about navigating the intricacies of the human heart, no matter whom we love. An invitation to say yes to uncertainty and vulnerability, to trust the unknowable mystery of life, while seeking the place we belong and what is uniquely ours to bring. A genre-defying memoir – one part love story, one part celebration of the table, one part ode to nature, and one part soul guide – woven as an indelible offering that lingers long past the final page.

EXCERPT

I don’t eat on flights, and twelve hours have elapsed since my last meal, making me wobbly both from blood-sugar blues and the electromagnetic scramble of hurtling through the globe’s atmosphere. My stomach grumbles like a bear emerging from its winter den, and a decent coffee will be necessary before the long cab ride to the house.

At the counter, my ear struggles slightly to catch and decipher the inflections of the Polish national working at the till, and I fumble in a pocket for the wad of newly exchanged currency. The blonde girl, boredom inscribed across her angular features, hands me the monetary change as well as a number placard to take to my seat. Staring at the once familiar British coins in my palm, I reacquaint with their respective shapes and values. White ceramic cup perched on saucer, weaving around customers to an empty table, luggage parked beside me, I loosen the dark grey cashmere scarf around my neck. A hubbub of voices and clinking of coffee cups surrounds me.

Bliss Road by Martha Engber

BACK OF THE BOOK

BLISS ROAD is the story of a neurotypical daughter of an undiagnosed Autism Spectrum Disorder parent. Sometimes funny, often devastating, Martha Engber’s honest and moving memoir illuminates the parent-child challenge presented by a neurological condition that affects over 75 million people worldwide.

A hybrid of poetry and essays, Ms. Engber uses personal anecdotes, coupled with historical research and current statistics, to explain the emergence of autism over the last hundred years. She includes the birth of Asperger’s, or high-functioning autism, as a formal diagnosis in 1994, the year her young nephew’s condition was determined.

After describing the psychological, emotional and social challenges she faced as a child, then as an adult and parent, she explains the method by which she changed her thinking and behavior to both celebrate her parents and heal. She ends by encouraging others to chase down the source of their family angst to reach a more blissful future.

A fascinating and encouraging journey of discovering the seemingly undiscoverable, Bliss Road combines the intimacy and warmth of Tuesday With Morrie and the empowerment demonstrated by Shonda Rhimes in Year of Yes!
