AUTHOR BIO

Eva Glyn fell in love with Croatia during her first holiday there in 2019; the incredible scenery, the delicious food, the country’s dramatic twentieth century history all played their part, but most of all it was the friendliness of the people.

One of these was tour director Darko Barisic, who told an incredible story about growing up in underground shelters during the war in the 1990s, and she knew she had to write a book around his experiences. This became her first Croatian novel, The Olive Grove, and she and Darko have become good friends and he continues to advise her on all aspects of Croatia.

Eva delves into Croatian history and everyday life for her inspiration, and visits the country as often as she can, having uncovered so many stories by talking to local people. Travel in general is her passion, followed closely by food and wine, which also find their way between her pages.

Although Welsh by birth she now lives in Cornwall with the man she met and fell in love with almost thirty years ago. She also writes as Jane Cable.

REVIEW:

The Mother In-Laws Secret doesn’t stop with the twists and turns throughout the book. You continually find yourself changing how you think the story will end but when you get there the ending just blows you away.

The story is written in 2 parts and from 2 points of view. To begin with Izzy introduces us to the story. She is in love with Miles and wants to build a life with him, but not before secrets are told.

Then we hear Cassandra’s story and the secrets unfold and nothing is as it seems. By the end of the book I felt for both characters. Amazing writing.

The Party Season is a fantastic festive crime story that had me engaged from the start.

The story is in the point of view of multiple characters which works very well at allowing the reader to get to know individual characters fully. I enjoyed the chapters from the point of view of the killer as it helped you get into their mind and understand why they had taken this path.

The two lead characters, Eddie and Becky, are brilliantly written well developed especially given this is the 2nd book for them I felt I knew them even without reading the previous story.

I need to read the first now.

The Other Side is a great story for kids which touches on a number of subjects that are good examples for kids to learn.

These include friendship, and attributes that make potentially a bad friend, the environment, specifically plastic pollution, and to a small degree women’s rights.

These examples sit within a very fun story involving Aubrey and his friends starting with Aubrey going missing, his friends searching for him, then going on a holiday that results in them trying to help sort a problem affecting the whole island.

I think this would be a great read for kids to learn some life lessons within the backdrop of a fun interesting story.
