REVIEW:

Girl Rebels is a graphic novel written by multiple authors and illustrated by various artists.

The book is divided into five independent stories, each exploring the origins of six young girls journeys to becoming spokespeople for some of the most important causes of our time.

I thoroughly enjoyed each story and found them incredibly enlightening. Not only did I learn about the girls, their journeys, and their causes, but I also gained insight into what led them to take up their fights. Before reading, I was only familiar with Greta Thunberg, but discovering more about her childhood and the struggles she faced to have her voice heard on issues close to her heart was truly inspiring.

Every story captured my interest, but the standout for me was the first, which told the story of Malala Yousafzai. She not only fought to promote women’s rights in a country where men are seen as superior but also continued her fight for change even after surviving a brutal attack.

I would love to read more graphic novels like this. It’s a fantastic way to learn about peoples lives, especially for those who don’t typically read traditional biographies. The combination of artwork and insight into key moments of their lives made this a much more engaging read for me.
